Gore Highway (Millmerran – Goondiwindi), Wyaga Creek, upgrade floodway
A new bridge at Wyaga Creek crossing on the Gore Highway will improve flood immunity, safety and efficiency on one of Queensland's most important transport links.
The Gore Highway is part of the National Land Transport Network and is a critical link for inter and intrastate travel in Queensland. However, the highway often floods, causing traffic delays for extended periods.
A 2016 flood study of the Gore Highway between Westbrook and the Leichhardt Highway identified Wyaga Creek crossing at Kilbronae as the largest contributor to the annual average flood-related closure time at 44 hours.
The new bridge will raise the crossing by 1.44m significantly reducing the annual average closure time of the Gore Highway at Kilbronae.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. Project cost and funding contributions are subject to further consideration and negotiation with the Australian Government. Investment ID 2342858.
A revised project cost of $52.4 million was announced on 22 December 2023.
