Garbutt - Upper Ross Road (Riverway Drive) (Stage 2), Allambie Lane to Dunlop Street, duplicate to four lanes
This project will deliver upgrades to Riverway Drive, between Allambie Lane and Dunlop Street, to improve safety and alleviate traffic congestion.
Upgrades to 3.1km of Riverway Drive will include widening a 1.6km section between Allambie Lane and Hammond Way to 4 lanes.
This will alleviate traffic congestion, particularly for motorists entering Riverway Drive from side streets.
Consultation with key and impacted stakeholders will continue throughout the project.

Current status
Early works, including utility relocations, began in early 2024.
Tenders for construction were called in March 2024.
Construction will start in mid-late 2024 following Townsville City Council's construction of the Ross River Dam to Douglas Water Treatment Plant Pipeline Renewal project.
