Cunningham Highway Upgrade
Planning is underway to upgrade the Cunningham Highway.
The project involves investigating safety improvements to provide a better driving experience for all road users and reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury crashes.
Investigations will be undertaken between the Mobil Fisher Park Truck Stop at Tregony and the Cunningham Highway and South Branch Road intersection at Maryvale.
The department is inviting feedback from all road users to help inform decisions about these road safety upgrades.
The Cunningham Highway Safety Package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. The Australian and Queensland governments are investing $16.75 million (on a 80:20 basis) to deliver road safety improvements on the Cunningham Highway between Tregony and Maryvale. A further $3.65 million (80:20) is being invested through the Southern Queensland Region Mass Action Safety Treatment Program. Investment ID 2392874
Funding figures as at QTRIP 2023-24 to 2026-27 (June 2023).
Detailed design started in February 2023 and is expected to be completed August 2023.
