Less asphalt means more savings, more innovation

We’ve partnered with the Australian Road Research Board through the National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACoE) on some exciting new infrastructure research.

Our new Technical Note (TN167) describes how thinner asphalt pavements can be used in Queensland’s warm climate without detracting from the pavement performance. With conventional asphalt mixes we expect to be able to reduce pavement thickness by 7%, and more highly engineered (optimised) or innovative mixes might allow for even further reductions.

TN167 was consulted widely with industry stakeholders and you can read all about it on our website.
